Instagram DM templates you can copy today

A good automated DM sounds like you, delivers what was promised, and invites a reply. Below are templates for the most common comment-to-DM situations. Copy one, replace the parts in [brackets], and adjust the wording to match your voice.

Each one works with a keyword trigger or an any-comment trigger in OneSocialX.

How to adapt a template to your brand

Templates are a starting point. To make one yours:

  • Swap in words you actually use in your reels and captions.
  • Match your usual emoji style, whether that is none, one, or plenty.
  • Mention the exact thing you promised in the reel, by name.
  • Add one sentence that only you would write, such as a tip from your own experience.
  • Read it out loud. If it sounds like a robot, simplify it.

Keep a small library of your best versions in a note on your phone. When you plan a new reel, you can set up its automation in minutes because the message is already written.

After: Here's my 5-step morning routine, as promised โ˜€๏ธ [link]

Templates for follow-up conversations

When someone replies to your automated DM, answer personally. These short replies help you keep the conversation going:

When they say thank you
So glad it's useful! ๐Ÿ˜Š What are you hoping to get out of it? Happy to point you to the right part.
When they ask a question
Great question! [Short answer]. If it helps, here's a bit more detail: [link]
When they are ready to buy or book
Amazing! Here's the direct link: [link]
If anything is unclear, just message me here and I'll sort it out.

These are written by you, not sent automatically, but having them ready makes it easy to reply quickly and warmly.

Tips for writing your own

  • Keep it under about 60 words. People read DMs on a phone.
  • Put the link on its own line so it is easy to tap.
  • Use the same keyword and promise as your reel, so the DM feels expected.
  • Ask a small question at the end to start a conversation.
  • Test it by commenting from a second account before your post goes live.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use emojis and line breaks in automated DMs?

Yes. Your message is sent as you write it, including emojis and line breaks.

Can I include more than one link?

You can, but one clear link usually works best. Too many choices can make people click nothing.

Should my DM mention that it is automated?

It is not required, but be honest if asked and reply personally to people who respond. That keeps trust high.

How do I personalise templates?

Replace the [bracketed] parts, use words your audience uses, and match the tone of your reels.

Turn your next comments into conversations.
